Athena McCartney Obituary (2012

Athena McCartney crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024 in the arms of her mom and dad. Athena was the daughter of Joe and Jasmine McCartney for the last nearly 9 years. She leaves behind three human siblings; Sadie, Noah, Wyatt, and her mom and dad. All of whom Athena loved unconditionally. The first couple years of Athena's life aren't of a fairytale. In the summer of 2015, she had found her way to the Elwood Animal Shelter where she was later adopted by her parents. Since she was adopted, she's lived a life of being spoiled. Always a Daddy's girl and Mommy's snack buddy. Athena always knew when to enter the kitchen. She was the best clean up crew when things were accidentally spilt. She loved being outside, car rides, and getting pup cups. She followed her siblings wherever they went. Often called "Nina" due to the kids not being able to pronounce her name as toddlers. She was such a great dog that her mom and dad always joked that she could be trusted to babysit the kids if needed. Athena knew to sit and shake for all her treats. She had a special affinity for cheese and would come running when the fridge opened. She was the loved to cuddle and was in bed with mom and dad every night. With her size, she often scared people, but she never knew a stranger. She had the most gentle soul. Athena will be forever missed and remembered. Rest easy, sweet girl.
