Bertie M (Logan) Payne Obituary (1940 - 2014)

Bertie M. (Logan) Payne, age 73, of Elwood, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. She was born on August 17, 1940, to the late Benjamin and Anna Belle (McMahan) Logan. Bertie married the love of her life Walter Payne in March of 1962 . Bertie was a cook at Dickey's Nursing Home for 30 years.She enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Colts, Pacers, and Dale Jarrett race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. She was an avid baker and a notorious candy maker. Bertie is survived by her 2 Daughters - Sherry (Robin) Runyan of Elwood, IN, Nancy (Todd) Petro of Fairmount, IN; 2 Sons - Gene (Cindy) Logan of Elkhart, IN, Walter (Dawn) Payne of Bellefonte, PA; 8 Granddaughters - Jamie Runyan, Maddison Runyan, Julia (Clayton) Whitson, Jessica Petro, Jocelyn Logan, Ashley Lambert, Amanda Lambert, Emily Payne; 4 Grandsons - Travis (Brittany) Logan, Zachary Logan, Billy (Jorden) Logan, DavidPayne; 5 Great-Grandsons; 1 Great-Granddaughter (on the way); 2 Sisters - Virgie Patrick, Zelma Richmond; Brother - Johnny Kidwell; and a Daughter-In-Law - Teresa Logan; Bertie was preceded in death by her Father, Benjamin Logan, Mother, Anna Belle Logan, Husband, Walter Payne, Brother William Logan, and a Sister, Mae Butler Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana, with Larry Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown, IN. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 14, 2014 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, in memory of Bertie.
