Betty J (Hood) Morrisett Obituary (1930 - 2022)

Betty J. Morrisett, age 92, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Elwood Health and Living. She was born in Nappanee, Indiana, on May 15, 1930, to the late Harry Hoodand Dorothy (Ingle) Waters. On May 29, 1948, Betty married George B. Morrisett and they shared 49 years of marriage together. Rev. George and Betty co-founded the Third Street Church of God and held many charitable events out of their garage, such as a food pantry, clothing, and Coats for Kids. Betty enjoyed making blankets so much that she gifted over 1,000 blankets over the years. Betty is survived by three children; Allen (Wanda) Morrisett of Tipton, Linda (Norman) Baxter of Elwood, and Steve Morrisett of Elwood; 5 grandchildren, Carla (Gene) Stafford, Rachel Northern, Jennifer (Steve) Fernandez, Melissa (Chris) Standridge and Traci (Dave) Mottweiler; 9 great-grandchildren, Sherae (Josh) Lyons, Dustin (Bridgette) Stafford, Trayka ( Dakota) Lawson, Erika Northern, Dominic Fernandez, Anna Fernandez, Ethan Fernandez, Taylor Standridge, and Katie Mottweiler; 5 great, Noah, Zoey, Luke, Gemma, and Wonder; a brother, Harry (Sandy) Hood of Bristol, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy; and two brothers, Jack and Bill Hood. Visitation will be Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. Funeral service celebrating Betty's life will be at 11:00 am Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Dunnichay Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Weaver, officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery.
