Billy J (Mitchell) Lane Obituary (1953 - 2018)

Billy J. Lane, age 64, of Elwood, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at IU Health Methodist Hospital following recent health issues. She was born in Elwood on April 1, 1953, to the late Arcy Mitchell and Margaret (Beeman) Singer. Billy was a 1971 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School and furthered her education at Indiana University in Kokomo. She received her bachelors in nursing and was a registered nurse at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital for the majority of her career. Billy enjoyed reading and attending sporting events her grandchildren participated in. She was a selfless person who tailored her life around serving others. She has touched countless lives during her service as a nurse here in Elwood. Billy will be sadly missed but lovingly remember by her many friends and family members. Billy is survived by her son, Matt (wife Jackie) Lane of Carmel; daughter, Beth Patterson of Elwood;, two sisters, Debbie Singer of Anderson and Teresa (husband Jack) Mead of Windfall; five grandchildren, Hayla Jordan, Trevian Jordan, Tyson Patterson, Madyson Lane and Korbin Lane; great-grandson, Eli Miller; step-mother, Patsy Mitchell of FL; former spouse, Donald Lane of FL; four brothers-in-law, Steven (wife Geneva) Lane, Joe Lane, Michael Lane, and Rob Lane; three sistesr-in-law, Deborah (husband Terry) Everling, Susan Thompson, and, Missy (husband Kurt) Faulstich; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Billy was preceded in death by her father, Arcy Mitchell; mother, Margaret J Singer; step father, James Singer (who raised her); and mother-in-law , Joyce Lane. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, beginning with a Nursing Honor Guard service and with Pastor Jack Bess officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2018, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
