Brenda F. Alexander, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, at the age of 61, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the first baby born on New Year's Day, January 1, 1963 in Madison County, Indiana. Brenda's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to her family, friends, and community.
Brenda's journey began in the heart of Indiana, born to Albert and Mescall Rose she was the middle of 5 children and the only daughter. While the early part of Brenda's life had its challenges, she was determined, driven, and persevered to create the life that she wanted. She married the love of her life, Jeff Alexander, on June 29, 1979. They were a young couple and soon became young parents with the birth of their first born, Michael Levi, in 1980. They had their second son, Nathan Lee, in 1982. Finding herself a young mother to 2 young boys, she excelled where many others fail. Brenda had a thirst for knowledge and spent many of her adult years striving towards the goal of becoming a nurse and then ultimately a Family Nurse Practitioner. Brenda's life long pursuit of knowledge was driven by her desire to care for those most in need. She was very proud of her educational accomplishments and degrees. Brenda received her Associate's Degree in Nursing from Ball State University in 2001, and then went back to school to obtain her BSN from I.U. Kokomo in 2011. Her final and most lofty goal was to obtain her Masters to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Through grit and sheer determination, she again achieved her goal and graduated with her MSN from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2022.
Brenda's professional life was marked by her commitment to healthcare and her community. Being a young mother, and having Pro-Life views, she understood the challenges that young mothers face. In early adulthood, she volunteered with the Alpha Pregnancy Care Center and offered comfort and assistance to many women that faced the same challenges she did. Brenda's leadership shone brightly as she dedicated over 40 years to the Frankton Heritage Days Festival, including 20 years in active leadership roles. Brenda's passion for FHD naturally led to her involvement with the Indiana State Festival Association (ISFA). Brenda served as a board member and past president. She contributed greatly to the ISFA's Scholarship Pageant. Brenda's spirit of service also led her to serve on both domestic and international medical mission trips. She traveled to Kentucky, Haiti, and Honduras and found great joy in helping those most in need.
In addition to her professional achievements, Brenda was deeply involved in her local Frankton community. As her children grew, she was active in the PTA and various Little Leagues. Her love for sports and youth was continued on as an avid supporter of her grandchildren and Frankton Athletics. She travelled frequently to watch all of her grandchildren compete. She loved being in the stands or sidelines being their biggest fan. Besides supporting her family, Brenda's other hobbies included family camping trips, visiting state parks, watching hallmark movies, crafting, going to small town festivals, rummage sales, shopping, attending church and small groups, and other activities that allowed her to connect with others. She found joy in the human connection of small interactions.
Brenda's life was a reflection of the words that best described her: loving, faith-filled, and selfless. She poured her heart into every endeavor and cherished the time spent with her beloved family. Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff Alexander of Frankton, IN; sons, Levi (Heather) Alexander and Nathan (Stacey) Alexander; and grandchildren, Corbin, Kenna, Makena, Thaiden, Lucy, Addy, and Dawson Alexander, who will miss their Nana's warmth and guidance; brothers, Donnie (Delilah), Roy (Nancy), Gayle (Sue), and Albert (Tammy) Rose, Jr., all of Madison, IN. Brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Tom Alexander (Patti), Phil Alexander (Anita), Nancy Mahoney (Greg), and Susan Alexander. Brenda's memory will also be cherished by her numerous nieces and nephews.

Brenda's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire acts of kindness and generosity.
