Donald Parrish

Donald James Parrish, lovingly known as 'Don', was born on November 24, 1934, in Windfall, IN. He passed away on October 2, 2026, at Community Hospital in Anderson. Donald lived a fulfilled life marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his family. He was a proud mechanic and parts manager in the automotive industry, serving esteemed employers like Ed Martin, Jerry Alderman Ford,and then worked for Guide Lamp for 20 years, and Kutche to transport vehicles until his well-earned retirement.

Don was a man of many interests, with a particular affection for working on engines. He had a passion for yard work, fast cars, country music, and NASCAR. He took great pride in having helped build the family home where he lived for over 30 years. He was a regular fixture at car shows, not merely as a spectator but also as a participant. He was widowed after a blissful marriage that began on September 13, 1952, with his beloved wife Shirley Parrish.

Donald is survived by his son Dana Parrish and daughter-in-law Erin, daughter Stephanie Buser and son-in-law Ron, grandchildren Kelly (Matt) Minnich, Ryan (Lydia) Buser, and Jeffrey Parrish, great-grandchildren, Gracie & Charlotte Minnicha, Haylee & Sophia Buser, great-great-granddaughter Evangeline Hayden Buser, sister Pattie Fisher, brother Bob Parrish, brother-in-law Pat Harvey (Carolyn), and dear friend Bob Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Parrish, son, Brad Parrish, father, Reuben Parrish, mother, Francis Courtney, brothers, Bill, Dick, and Keith Parrish, and nephew, Bill Parrish.

A memorial viewing will be held for Donald on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 2:00pm EDT at Dunnichay Funeral Home, located at 1113 South Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana, 46036. The memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 3:00pm EDT with Pastor Scott Blaylock officiating.
