Douglas W Elsten Sr Obituary (1951 - 2016)

Douglas W. Elsten, age 65, of Frankton, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Community Hospital. He was born on March 25, 1951, in Anderson to the late Clarence and Alice (Williams) Elsten. On December 12, 1969 Doug married the love of his life Barbara (Marcrum) Elsten and she passed away February 8, 2006. Doug was retired from Standard Lock Nut in Westfield where he was a machinist. He was an avid bowler; bowling in numerous leagues at Wells Lanes and Lucky Strikes Lanes. He was president and treasurer for many bowling leagues, and enjoyed traveling to the Hoinke Classic. Doug played in various softball leagues in the area. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and spending time with his family. Doug will be remember for being an avid IU Fan and was always wearing something IU. Doug is survived by his daughter, Dana (Dan Reed) Purkey of Elwood, son, Doug (Cathy Washburn) Elsten, Jr. of Elwood, son, Danny (Charity) Elsten of Frankton, eight grandchildren, four great granddaughters, sister, Marsha Earlywine, sister, Judy Burke, sister, Sharon Grimes, and brother Jr. Cricket Elsten. Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Clarence "Cricket" Elsten, mother, Alice Elsten, wife, Barbara Elsten, siblings, Jean, Bob, Phyllis, special daughter, Michelle House, and special companion, Linda Finkbeiner. Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2016 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Jeremy Newman officiating. Burial will be at a later date at K of P & IOOF Cemetery in Frankton. Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2016, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S.
