Elwood, Indiana
With deep love and admiration, we remember the life of Ethel M. Atwood, born Ethel M. Simmons on May 22, 1941, in Tipton, Indiana. Ethel brought a warmth and joy to the world that was uniquely her own, her compassionate spirit resonating in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a beacon of unwavering support, offering her loving heart and thoughtful wisdom to those around her. The legacy of Ethel's beautiful spirit continues to live on, even in her absence.
Ethel resided in Elwood, Indiana, where she made a home filled with love and laughter. As a homemaker, Ethel's nurturing touch was evident in everything she did, from raising her children to creating a home that was always welcoming. Her most cherished moments were those spent with her family. Her children, Doyle Payne and his wife Nancy, Rick Payne, and Terrie Chitwood, were the light of her life. Ethel was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, each one holding a special place in her heart. Although Ethel now joins her beloved husband, Carl Atwood; parents, William Simmons and Louise (Anderson) Browning; son, Jeffrey Payne and daughter, Shiela Zorn, in peaceful rest, her love continues to bind her family together.
Ethel was a social butterfly who loved spending time with her friends and family. Her infectious laughter and captivating stories made her the life of every gathering. She was a woman of many passions but her greatest joy came from the simple pleasure of being surrounded by those she loved. Her presence made the world a brighter place, her love a soothing balm, and her memory a treasure to be cherished.
