Ewell Lacey Blanton Obituary (1948 - 2017)

Ewell Lacey Blanton, age 69, of Marion passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Marion General Hospital after an extended illness. Ewell was born on October 1, 1948, in Lexington, KY to Corbie and Lilly (Horseman) Blanton, Sr. On Apr. 17, 1978 he married Shirley (Clark) Blanton and she passed away on Aug. 11, 2013. On Dec. 5, 2013 he married Janet (Humphrey) Blanton. Ewell was a retired truck driver formerly employed by Walkers Trucking Co. of Strawberry Plains, TN. He served in the National Guard, he enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go fishing. Ewell is survived by his wife, Janet (Humphrey) Blanton of Marion, step daughter, Ann Marie Warner of Marion, daughter, Jobi (Dawayne) Greer of TN, daughter, Janet (Tim) McCorkle of Tipton, son, Nelson (Brandy) Blanton of Sheridan, son, Chris (Vickie) Maish of New Market, TN, granddaughters, Ashley (Terrin) Beyer, Anessa Hammond, Destiny McCorkle, Lilly McCorkle and Alexus Burtron, grandsons, CJ Maish, Nelson Lacey Blanton and Brantley Burtron, great grandsons, Trenton, Brayton and Jackson Beyer, Kourtney Hammond and Zachary James Maish, special nieces, Cindy LaPoint, Mone Waymire and several nieces and nephews. Ewell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley Blanton, fourteen siblings. Funeral service celebrating Ewell's life will be at 2 PM Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Jason Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 12 PM to 2 PM In lieu of flowers memorial contributions ,may be made to the funeral home to off set funeral expenses.
