Gary Foley

Gary Wayne Foley Sr., 75, passed away on October 5, 2026, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born on March 17, 1951, in Harlan, Kentucky, the son of Clarence and Opal (Helton) Foley.

On April 8, 1978, Gary married Lola Marie (Eldridge) Foley, and together they shared 48 years of marriage.

Gary owned and operated his own construction business, Foley’s Remodeling, for several years before becoming disabled. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking.

Gary was affectionately known as “Papaw Foley” to Tyler Foley, Kimberlyn Bargo, Nathan Foley, Kenton Hensley, Austin Hunt, Quentin Hunt, Trevor Hunt, and Alexis Hunt. He was also known as “Uncle Gary” to Porsche Carver and Alexis Bonwell.

Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, Marie; son, Gary Jr. of Elwood; daughters, Kelli (Tim) Hensley and Kristen (James Tackett) Foley, both of Harlan, Kentucky; grandchildren, Tyler Foley, Kimberlyn Bargo, Nathan Foley, and Kenton Hensley; great-granddaughter, Atlee Bargo; sisters, Mary Lou Anton and Nancy (Danny) Helton; aunt, Donna (Doyle) Smith; Alma (Robert) Carr; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Chuck and Crystal Anderson, and Rob Sosbe.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; son, William “Andy” Foley; brother, Charles Foley; and the mother of his daughters, Patricia Huff.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood. A service to celebrate Gary’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Kim Ridenour officiating. Following the service, Gary will be laid to rest at Elwood Cemetery with a brief committal service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Center Grove Baptist Church through the funeral home or directly to Center Grove Baptist Church, 3301 S. 400 W., Tipton, IN 46072.
