Helen J (Lewis) Deckard Obituary (1933 - 2015)

Helen J. Deckard, age 81, of Elwood, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 17, 2015 at her residence following an extended illness.Helen was born on October 17, 1933, in Kentucky to James andMary Lou (Votaw) Lewis.On October 2, 1950, she married the love of her life John L. Deckard and he passed away on Sept. 16, 2006.Helen was a faithful member Solid Rock Full Gospel Ministries of Elwood.Helen was a homemaker, most of all a mother and grandmother.She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Karl) Ridenour of Sharpsville, four sons, John (Bonnie) Deckard of Elwood, Monty Deckard of Tipton, David (Anita) Deckard, and Steven Deckard both of Elwood, IN, Grandchildren, Trevor & Trent Morgan, Matthew & Eric Deckard, Joshua & Danny Deckard, Corey & David Deckard, and Sasha Deckard. Great Grandchildren, Christian, Bailey, & Jalen Morgan, Caleb Morgan, Madyson Deckard, Delaine, Madison, & Abbie Deckard, Carlin Deckard, Jordan Bodie, Laylah & Laydon Morgan, and Jace Deckard, one Brother, Richard "Buddy" (Jean) Lewis of KY, several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John L. Deckard and sister Betty Lewis. A Celebration of Life Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Monday, September 21, 2015, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood,with Pastor Jeff Hail officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, September 21, 2015, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
