J T Morris Obituary (1926 - 2012)

J.T.Morris, 85, of Elwood, passed away onJanuary 18, 2012 at homefollowing an extended illness. J.T. was born on March 19, 1926 to Willie and Annie (Hawkins) Morris in West Moreland, TN. On November 26, 1943 he married B. Eileen (Smith) Morris and she passed on June 22, 2011. J.T. served his country in the United States Army during World War II during which time he was stationed in Italy from 1944to 1946. He was retired from Steel Slitting Corp. in Elwood after 31 years of service; J.T. also retired from Shorewood Corp after 9 years of service and then he owned and operated Superior Lawn Care from 1990 to 2005. J.T.'s hobbies included fishing at lake Okeechobee in Florida and Baby lake in Minnesota. He was also an avid Nascar fan and he favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon. He was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church and a lifetime member of the Elwood V.F.W. and American Legion. J.T. is survived by his 4 Daughters - Vickie Brooks of Middlebury, IN, Patricia Jacoby of Tampa, FL, Kathy (Gary) Deavers of Elwood, IN, Lisa (Todd) Little of Elwood, ; 2 Sons - J.T. (Dola) Morris of Bristol; Bill (Pam) Morris of Elwood Son-in-law - Mike Whitecotton of Lansing, KS; 11 Grandchildren: Larry J. & wife (Tina) Brooks of Goshen, Wendy Pate of Dallas, TX, Larry & wife (Amy) Jacoby of Tampa, FL Gina & husband (Jerry) Deavers of Elwood, Heather & husband (Danny) Davis of Elwood, Erin & husband (Roger) Bell of Shepard Air Force , TX Ben & wife (Emily) Whitecotton of Merriam, KS, Beth Little of Elwood, Lauri McRoberts of NE, Dawne Rogers and Amy Morris both of Elwood Great Grandchildren: Lee Brooks of Goshen, Katie & husband Aaron Bowser of South Bend, Sydney, Haley, Peyton Jacoby of Tampa FL; Aiden &Lucas Rogers Bell of Shepard Air Force, TX Katelyn & Maranda Deavers, Colton, Braxton, Tryceton Davis of Elwood,Reed Remington of Elwood, Samantha Edmonds, and Sara Pate both of TX Great Great Granddaughter: Hailey Bowser 2 Sisters - Edna Mae Rehm of Clearwater, FL, Erma Lee Wiley of Largo, FL; . He was preceded in death by parents, wife Eileen Morris, daughter Tamara Whitecotton and a brother Frank MorrisVisitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 PM at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2012,at the Dunnichay Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will take place in the Elwood City Cemetery where full military graveside rites will be conducted by the Elwood V.F.W. and the United States Army.
