James Wethington

–

Frankon, Indiana

James A. Wethington, age 78, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, October 9,2026, after an extended illness. He was born on August 18, 1948, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of James & Martha (Mason) Wethington.
Jim was a man whose compassion was as boundless as his humility was deep. Known for his loyal and supportive nature, James was someone who found the greatest joy in the simple, yet profound, act of being there for those he loved. His life was a testament to the enduring power of love, commitment, and a well-played round of golf or horseshoes.

Throughout his life, James was a beacon of dedication, reflected in his 36 remarkable years of service as a Pipefitter at General Motors. His commitment extended beyond his professional life, as evidenced in his devoted service to the US Army. He was a man who believed in service, not merely as a duty but as a privilege. Following his retirement in 2003, James, together with his beloved wife of 56 years, Jeannie, found a second home in Florida, where they spent their winters for 20 years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jeannie, his two sons, Mike (Linda) Wethington and Andy (Crystal) Wethington; daughter Jennifer Borum. Grandchildren, Gabe (Alisha), Rachael (Matthew), Madilyn, Hannah, Addyson and Jacob. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Wethington, and sister, Mary Cunningham.

Jim's visitation will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2 pm at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 East Sigler Street, Frankton, Indiana, 46044. Burial will follow at the K of P and IOOF Cemetery in Frankton. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Anderson Animal Shelter or the American Cancer Society.

We invite all who knew, loved, and were touched by James to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page. His legacy is not just in the life he lived but also in the lives he touched. Let us remember James Wethington, not for his departure, but for his remarkable journey, his steadfast love, and his unwavering dedication to those he cherished.
