Janice A (Smith) Kleyla Obituary (1947 - 2016)

Janice A. Kleyla, age 69, life long resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at her residence following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Janice was born on January 8, 1947, in Elwood to Dewey and Evelyn (Barmes) Smith. Jan graduated from Wendell Willkie High School, class of 1965. She continued her education at Indiana Wesleyan University where she received a BSBM. She retired in 2010 from Roche Diagnostics in Fishers, IN. Jan enjoyed reading, quilting, and computers. She was an active member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church. Jan married John Kleyla on October 16, 1966 with Dr. Milan Johnson officiating. Survivors include her husband, John, two sons, John Kleyla of Indianapolis Joel Kleyla of Mooresville, two grandsons, Kyle Kleyla of Seattle, WA, and Jameson Kleyla, Granddaughter, Janene Kleyla, sister, Judy (Jerry) Hallett of Indianapolis, brothers, Dewey (Barbara) Smith of Wabash and Kevin (Malou) Smith of Philippines. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents. Services honoring Jan's life and legacy will be at 2:00 pm Friday, June 3, 2016 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Pastor Michael Deutsch officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 3, 2016, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
