John H. Bannon

John H. Bannon, age 70, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

John was born in Kokomo, IN on January 8, 1953, to the late John and Helen (Roller) Bannon.

John attended Frankton Schools and worked for State Plating for several years. John loved all things racing. In his free time, John would frequent Sun Valley Speedway, now known as Anderson Speedway, and watch as many races as possible. If he was not in attendance, he would watch any type of racing on TV including Nascar and drag racing. He also enjoyed working on cars with his friends and family. John was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene which he would attend on a regular basis. Family was important to John. He was one of seven children growing up and loved each one of his brothers and sisters. He also enjoyed it when the entire family would get together for family gatherings and holidays.

John is survived by his brothers, William Bert Bannon of Elwood, and John Ray Bannon of Elwood; sisters, Mildred Barnhouse of Muncie, Lavone Bannon of Elwood, and Naomi (Randy) Keller of Alexandria; and several nieces & nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents John & Helen Bannon; sister, Mary Bannon; nephew, Shawn Keller; and several aunts & uncles.

Visitation will be Monday, October 30, 2023, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, October 30, 2023, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Rev. Phillip Rogers officiating.

Burial will follow at Elwood City Cemetery.
