John Hueston

John D. Hueston, age 56, of Elwood passed away on June 27, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson due to complications from his long and courageous battle with cancer.

John was born in Elwood on July 21, 1968, to the late Pamela "Peach" Dennis. Known as "Bones" to many family and friends, he lived his entire life in Elwood. While still attending Elwood Community High School, he began working at Service & Materials, a position he held for many years after graduating. He also worked several side jobs until his illness prevented him from working.

John was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed spending time with friends and fishing, loved making people laugh, and was willing to help anyone in need. John had only one rule in life: "Never, ever call me during Gunsmoke or Bonanza unless it's an emergency." He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

John is survived by his siblings: Robert (Barb) Hueston of Minnesota, Melissa (Chris) Crouch of Gaston, and Rodney Hueston of Elwood. He is also survived by his nephews, Preston Hueston of Elwood and Kevin Miller of Gaston; his uncle Randy (JoAnna) Moore of Elwood; his ex-stepfather, Steve Dennis of Elwood; several cousins; many great friends; and his faithful companion, CC, who was always by his side.

In addition to his loving mother, Pamela Dennis, John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Rosella Moore; his uncle, Phillip Moore; his aunt, Phyllis Ball; and his cousin, Shelley Bellamy.

Dunnichay Funeral Home has been entrusted with John's care, and his wishes were to be cremated. A private burial at Sunset Memorial Park will take place at a later date.
