Matthew David Fields-Stone

–

Anderson, Indiana

Matthew David Fields-Stone, a husband, father, son, brother, grandson, cousin, brother in arms, and great friend, was relieved of his earthly duties on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at age 33.

Matt was born in Anderson, IN, on July 25, 1989, to David and Sheena (Fields) Stone. On December 11, 2015, he married Shauntae K. (Burger) Stone, and they shared 8 years of marriage together.

Matt attended Elwood Community High School and was a member of the graduating class of 2009. He was a four-year member of the football team, a three-year member of three CIC wrestling teams, and an individual wrestling champion in many tournaments. After high school, Matt enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he did two tours to Afghanistan, one in the Helmand Province. Matt earned the rank of Sergeant and was a Purple Heart recipient. Matt was also a member of the Alexandria VFW and the Disabled Veterans Foundation. After his time in the military Matt and Shauntae moved to Wisconsin for 3 years. Upon returning home to the Anderson area, Matt had begun working for E & B Paving. Outside of sports, Matt was an outdoorsman. He liked to hunt, fish, camp, and spend time building and enjoying bonfires. Matt was known as a jack of all trades, and you could always find him tinkering.

Matt had a personality that when he entered a room, you knew he had arrived. Anyone who knew Matt knew if they were in need that he would be there, night or day. He had a heart of gold. A heart that loved his family dearly, especially his five-year-old son, Kayden. Kayden and Matt were best friends and Matt's light will continue to shine through Kayden as time goes on.

Matt, or "Maffy" to some of his family, is survived by his wife, Shauntae K. Stone of Anderson; son, Kayden Matthew Stone; mother, Sheena (Companion Melvin) Stone of Anderson; father, David N. (Cheryl) Stone of Alexandria; brother, Paul (Autumn) Odom of Menominee; sister, Stephanie (Fred) Marlow of New Castle, IN; brother, Shawn (Lacey) Dietzer, Jr. of Menominee, MI; half-sisters, Chandra Woodrum of Alexandria and RaeAnn Norwick of Alexandria; in-laws, Jeff (Shelly) Burger of Frankton; grandmother, Sonya Fields; several aunts & uncles, several nieces & nephews, several cousins, and several brothers in arms.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary E. Dockery, John Stone, and Paul Fields.

The visitation will be Monday, June 26, 2023, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
