Mildred "Eileen" Hillard

Mildred "Eileen" Hillard, age 97, of Anderson and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023.

She was born in Summitville on December 23, 1925, to the late Kenneth and Emma (Webster) Cunningham.

Eileen graduated from Alexandria Monroe High School, on July 15, 1944, she married Leonard "Gene" Hillard and he preceded her in death in 1987. She worked various jobs through the years to help support her family, but her favorite was at Merle Norman in downtown Elwood. Eileen enjoyed coloring, watching QVC, and dancing. She was a volunteer at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood for many years. Eileen loved to go shopping, and more than anything she loved just talking with her grandchildren and being with her family.

Eileen is survived by her son, Larquis "Lark" Hillard; four grandchildren, Amy (husband Paul) Lowe, Tracy (husband Rick) Haggitt, Guy (wife Rachel) Pearson, and Seth (Robin) Pearson; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Lynn Pearson in 2016; sister, Martha Nona Allen; and brother, Kenneth "Bud" Cunningham.

Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Dunnichay Funeral Home 1113 South Anderson Street Elwood, IN 46036. A funeral service to celebrate and honor Eileen's life will begin at 1 pm on Friday, at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery.
