Paul D. Quinton, Jr. Obituary (1946 - 2024)

Paul D. Quinton, Jr., age 77, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rushville, Indiana, on November 14, 1946, to the late Paul and Edna (Gibson) Quinton. On December 26, 1965, he married Patricia L. Norris and they shared 58 years of marriage together. Paul enjoyed a long and successful career in construction and transport. He retired as a truck driver from Carter Lumber in Muncie, but also spent many years driving for F.C. Cline. A true jack-of-all-trades, he was an accomplished carpenter and woodworker, always eager to take on a new project with his hands and his tools. Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, and going fast in his boat, and he and Patricia delighted in traveling together, their favorite destination being the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. He had a special place in his heart for horses and watching classic western television programs, and was an ardent fan of the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR. Paul possessed a truly charitable spirit that found great joy in helping others, and he could often be found doing small odd-jobs for his friends and neighbors. He was a faithful member of Florida Station Church of God, and was devoted to their family and their constant companion, their dog Dixie. Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Paul Jeffrey (Amy) Quinton of Kennard; daughter, Lisa (Marty) Gates of Anderson; son, Joshua M. (Melanie) Quinton of Alexandria; grandson, Anthony Thompson; grandson, Ethan Quinton; step-grandson, Landon (Lexi) Gates; great-granddaughter, Layla Thompson; great-grandson, Drake Thompson; brother, Jimmy "Jim" Ray Quinton; and their special friend, Dee Weaver.Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kathy Ann Quinton. A public graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Knights of Pythias - IOOF Cemetery, Frankton, Indiana, with Rev. Jerry Hilligoss officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association.
