Pollie R (Ritchie) Jackson Obituary (1924 - 2016)

Pollie R. Jackson, age 92, of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. Pollie was born on December 14, 1924, in Lambric, KY to the late Gilbert and Kate "Sis" (Lovins) Ritchie. On April 27, 1948, she married the love of her life Ralph "Buck" Jackson, Jr. and he passed away on Sept. 1, 2000. Pollie retired in 1975, from Guide Lamp after 31 years of service. She was a member of the Local UAW #663, of Anderson. Pollie enjoyed sewing and after she retired from the factory became a very good seamstress. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Pollie is survived by her loving 4 Daughters, Arpie Jackson, of Elwood, Carrie (Ed) Cox of Kokomo, Jennie (Terry) Crull of Frankton, and Treva Duncan of Elwood, Son in law, Steve Simmons of Chesterfield, 9 Grandchildren, J.C. Kelley, L.G. Kelley, Mark Clemons, Stephen Jackson, Jerry Jackson, Greg Simmons, Brian Cox, Melanie Wright, and Morgan Brock, 21 Great Grandchildren, and 9 Great Great Grandchildren, Brother, Tom Ritchie of Orestes, several nieces & nephews. Pollie was preceded in death by her Father, Gilbert Ritchie, Mother, Kate "Sis" Ritchie, Husband, Ralph "Buck" Jackson, Jr., 2 Daughters, Myrtle Hunt and Helen Simmons, 2 Son in Laws, Mark Duncan and Wendell Jackson, 2 Brothers and 3 Sisters. Funeral service celebrating Pollie's life will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with Rich Leavell officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital Foundation.
