Ricky "Rick" Eugene Stansberry

–

Frankton, Indiana

Ricky "Rick" Eugene Stansberry of Elwood, and formerly of Frankton, left this world on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the age of 63. He was born in Elwood on December 11, 1961, to the late Jack and Peggy (LaShure) Stansberry, one of seven children. After attending Frankton High School, Rick began a lifelong career as a self-employed construction worker. On July 8, 1990, he married Debbie Armstrong and they shared 32 years together before her passing in 2023.

Rick was known for his fondness of country music, his obsession with Christmas lights, and his stormy relationship with extension ladders, but what set him apart was his kind and caring spirit. A devoted spouse and family man, Rick delighted in spending as much time as possible with his loved ones, whether watching the grandkids at sporting events or engaging in lively debates with his siblings, and he would do anything he could to help a friend in need. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and was always eager to begin a new adventure with Debbie in their RV, especially if the road took them to Florida or Kansas. While Rick knew how to kick back with a slice of pizza and cheer on the Colts or Purdue, he never tired of working with his hands on some new project. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Rick is survived by his children, Nicole Stansberry and Ricky Stansberry, and his step-children, Machelle (Bobby) Lindsay and Jeremy (Jamie) Gossett. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kassie Maddox, Wyatt Ebert, Jessie (Mariah) Gossett, Layne Gossett, Mackenzie Oyler, and Rylan Marlow; his great-grandchildren, Mason, Magnolia, Jeremy, Decker, Asher, and Nelliel; his siblings, Ron (Kristy) Stansberry, Steve Stansberry, Lucinda (John) Rossiter, Vicki (Steve) Irick, and Jeff (Tina) Stansberry; several nieces & nephews; and his close friend, Tommy Creamer.

In addition to his wife, Debbie Stansberry, and his parents, Rick was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Stansberry.

Services for Rick have been entrusted to Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton, Indiana, and will be held Monday, January 27, 2025. A public visitation will take place from 11:00am until 1:00pm; a funeral ceremony will begin at 1:00pm with Rev. Roger Brooks officiating. Rick's wishes were to be cremated, and his ashes will be buried beside Debbie at a later date at the KoP-IOOF Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home to offset funeral expenses.
