Robert R. "Bob" Bickel

Robert R. "Bob" Bickel, age 85, lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following an extended illness. He was born on October 1, 1939, in Elwood to William and Anna Belle (Wallace) Bickel. On August 15, 1959, he married Freida "Pat" (Stewart) Bickel, and they shared 55 years of marriage together before she passed away on Oct. 13, 2014.

Bob graduated from Elwood High School with the class of 1957. He retired from Daimler Chrysler in 1992, after 32 years of dedicated service. Bob's family was the central focus of his life, and he enjoyed spending time with them more than anything. He will be sorely missed by so many. Bob is survived by his loving children that include his son, Robert "Bobby" (April) Bickel of Elwood; two daughters, Robin (Dan) Winn and Brenda (Tim) Kelich both of Elwood; grandchildren, Chad (Amanda) Kelich, Patricia (Rodger) Borders, III, Dan (Kelsey) Kelich, Allison Bickel, Jessa Bickel and Jonathan Bickel; great-grandchildren, Gavin & Emma Kelich, Kyndyl (Isaac Jones) Borders & Aidan Borders; and a brother, Tom Bickel.

Along with his parents and wife, Pat, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Mecenzie Bickel.Visitation is Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood. The funeral service celebrating Bob's life is Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:00 am at the funeral home with his son Pastor Bobby Bickel officiating. A burial will follow at the Elwood Cemetery with Rev. Duane Summitt officiating.
