Robert E. "Chip" Huffman

–

Frankton, Indiana

Robert E. "Chip" Huffman, currently of Frankton and formerly of Elwood, laid his burdens down on Thursday, December 5, 2024, following an extended battle with cancer; he was 64 years old. Chip was born in Elwood on November 10, 1960, to Robert Huffman and Sandy (Jackson) Goodpaster. He was a 1979 graduate of Oak Hill High School in Converse, and most recently was employed as a truck driver for Ricker Oil Co. and Lowe's. On February 8, 2008, he married Susan Marks, and they shared 16 years together before his passing.

Chip was the embodiment of what it means to be all-American. He loved God, worked hard, faithfully cheered on the Colts, enjoyed a good round of golf, and served honorably in the U.S. Army. Truck driving wasn't the only time Chip wracked up the miles; he was always ready to hit the road on a new adventure, especially if it meant being out in nature. Fishing, boating, camping - if happened outdoors, then Chip was in the middle of it. His greatest interest was deer hunting, and not even subzero temperatures could keep him out of the field come deer season. Most of all, Chip cared deeply for his family and friends, and their concern and support during his illness are a testament to how much he will be missed.

Chip is survived by his wife, Susan, and his children, Heather (Josh) Crow of Muncie and Ryan (Adela) Huffman of Anderson. He is also survived by his father, Robert Huffman of Elwood; brother, Jeff (Tina) Huffman of La Fontaine; sister, Lisa (Daniel) Reynolds of Logansport; grandchildren, Logan, Shayla, Eli, Ryan, Kristal, Ethan, and Nathan; a great-granddaughter, Laylah; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy Goodpaster; his brother, Brian (Debbie) Goodpaster; his step-father, Jim Goodpaster; and his beloved puppies, Buttercup and Rocky.

Services for Chip are to be held at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, Indiana. Visiting hours will take place from 3:00pm to 7:00pm next Wednesday, December 11, 2024. A funeral ceremony officiated by Pastor Brad Collett will begin the next morning, December 12, at 11:00am. Immediately after the funeral, Chip will be taken to his final resting place at the K of P IOOF Cemetery, where he will be interred following a brief committal service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
