Robert E Hughes

Robert E. "Bob" Hughes, age 92, of Frankton, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at I U Health Tipton Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born on April 4, 1924 in Alexandria, the son of Freida (Deaton) Parker and Glenn Parker. Bob served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. On May 17, 1946 he married the love of his life Lillian E. Tanzilli. They were married for 48 years before she passed away in 1994. Bob was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company where he was an insurance agent for many years. He was a member of the Frankton American Legion Post 469, the Elwood Elks Lodge, the Elwood V.F.W. Post 5782, and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bob was active in the American Legion and served on the Military Honor Guard for many years. He loved spending time with his family and watching sports; especially the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Football.
Robert is survived by his Daughter, Lori (Dennis) Johnson, Son, Tony (Tula) Hughes, Son, Marty (Marissa) Hughes all of Cicero, IN, Grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Abby (Erik) Kalstad, Kelsey Hughes, Kellan Hughes, Kendyl Hughes, Sister, Nancy (Jack) McClain, Great Grandchildren, Trey Johnson, Eleanor Kalstad, and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother George Parker.
Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2016, 12 pm - 2:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. A funeral service will follow on Monday at 2:00 pm, also at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with Father Dan Duff officiating. Burial will then follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
