Shawn Patrick Young Obituary (2003 - 2024)

Shawn Patrick Young, age 21, of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 13, 2024. He was born in Anderson on January 14, 2003, to John Young and Miranda (Leland) Young, and graduated from Elwood High School in May 2021. From a young age, Shawn loved to work with his hands and his tools. He was always building something or pursing a new business idea. Shawn had a passion for heavy machinery and farm equipment, as well as his own pickup truck. He was an avid fan of Legos and Star Wars, and was always ready for an intense game of Monopoly. Shawn enjoyed being outdoors, listening to country music, and traveling to visit his cousins in Oklahoma. In addition to his parents, Shawn is survived by his siblings, Abagail and Tyler Young, both of Elwood; his fiance, Abigail Fisher of Anderson; his paternal grandparents, Jack and Judy Young of Elwood; his maternal grandmother, Fran Leland of Ohio; his aunt, Amber (Jack) Fernung of Elwood; his uncle, James (Michelle) Young of OK; his aunt, Candi (Joe) Weber of OH; his aunt, Amanda Leland of OH; his aunt, Beth (Charles) Ward of Fairmount; his cousins, Keylee Fernung, Allison (Caleb) McFadden, Tommy Young, Aaron Weber, Rebecca Weber, Alexander Leland, and Dylan Miller; and his close friend, Jose Dimas. Shawn was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Leland. Services for Shawn will be held this Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood, Indiana, 46036. Family and friends are welcome to call between 11:00am and 2:00pm, and a funeral ceremony celebrating Shawn's life will begin at 2:00pm, with Keith Himelick officiating.
