Steven A. Harris

Steven A. Harris, age 73, of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Muncie on April 22, 1950, to the late James and Barbara (Bales) Harris. On Aug. 27, 1997, he married Kathy Lynn (Pike) Harris and they shared 28 years of marriage together.

Steve was the plant manager of Paint Assembly Corporation and retired after several years of service. After retirement, he started his own home remodeling business specializing in hanging wall-paper, painting, and installing tile. Steve was a perfectionist who will be remembered as a jack of all trades, and he embraced the challenge to fix anything. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed playing volleyball, canoeing, and bowling, but especially enjoyed working in his garden.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Lynn Harris of Elwood; two daughters, Andrea Courtney of Tipton and Erin Carter of Linden, IN; a son, Kevin Shepard of Anderson; grandchildren, Emma & Ethan Courtney, Mary Beth Carter, and Ashley Carter; two great-grandchildren, Alivia & Jackson Schrank; three sisters, Debbie Blevins of Fairmount, Jill (Jerry) Hughes of Muncie, and Cheryl (Bernie) Ball of Gransbury, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, James Harris. His wishes were to be cremated with no services. Dunnichay Funeral Home is honored to care for Steve and the Harris family.
