Theresa Rector

Theresa Sue Rector - beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend - passed away on August 1, 2024, at her residence in Elwood, at the age of 74. She was born October 20, 1949, to Joseph and Clemmie Macke. Theresa was a graduate of Wendell Willkie High School, and worked in the purchasing department for Red Gold, Inc., for 20 years. On July 3, 1993, she married Philip Rector, and they enjoyed 31 wonderful years of marriage together.

Theresa found joy in many things in life. She was an avid reader, and could often be found assembling a puzzle or watching a television crime drama. She also had an artistic side, which she expressed enthusiastically through interior decorating, arranging flowers, writing poetry, and listening to music, especially country music. Theresa was perhaps known best as a collector; some of her more treasured collections included jewelry, Boyds Bears, and Thomas Kinkade artwork. Above all, Theresa was a loving person who cared deeply for her family, and she will be greatly missed.

Theresa is survived by her husband, Philip; daughter Misty (Greg) Dutton of Anderson; son Mathew (Kendall) Rudig of Cicero; brother William Macke of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Alexandra, Mekayla, and Mathew Rudig; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend Vicki Turner.

Along with her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her brothers Walter, Leo, Robert, and Virgil Macke; and her sister, Barbara Duncan.

Services for Theresa have been entrusted to Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, Indiana, and will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Public visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, and a funeral ceremony officiated by Rev. Roger Gardner will begin at 1:00pm. A committal service and entombment at Elwood Cemetery Mausoleum will take place immediately following the funeral.
