Vickie C. Brooks

Vickie C. Brooks, age 83, of Elwood, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Elwood Health & Living following an extended illness. She was born in Erlanger, Kentucky, on October 8, 1939, to the late Paul and Anna (Pearson) Cook. On June 26, 1960, Vickie married Larry Brooks and they share over 61 years of marriage together before his passing on October 26, 2021.

Vickie retired in 1979 from Elwood Community High School after many years of service as the Physical Education teacher. She will be remembered by former students for her fancy wrist bands. Although Vickie's passion was teaching, she especially enjoyed working alongside her beloved husband, Larry, troubleshooting and repairing RV's. She will be greatly missed by so many former colleagues, family and friends.

Vickie is survived by her loving son, Marty I. Brooks of Elwood; and a brother, Danny Cook of Texas. Along with her parents and husband, Vickie was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Cook and a sister, Donna Cook.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Elwood Cemetery. Dunnichay Funeral Home is honored to care for Vickie and the Brooks family.
