Virgia L. Hendrick Obituary (1938 - 2023)

Virgia L. Hendrick, age 84, of Frankton, IN passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Masonic Home in Franklin, IN following an extended illness. She was born in Alexandria, IN on December 22, 1938, to the late Arnold and Katherine (Morgan) Owens. On August 25, 1957, she married Vernie D. Hendrick and they shared 59 years of marriage together before he passed away on Oct. 20, 2016. Virgia graduated from Alexandria High School class of 1956. She retired as a school bus driver for Frankton Lapel Schools after more than 32 years of service. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Swayzee Chapter and served as Past Worthy Grand Matron of Indiana from 1994 to 1995. She was a member of the Madison County Home Economics Club. She enjoyed quilting and gardening and was known for her amazing irises. Virgia is survived by daughter, Kemberly Hendrick of Anderson, IN; son, Phillip (Mary) Hendrick of Fruitvale, TX; grandchildren, Eva (Caleb) Wilson, Tylor Hendrick, Phillip Mark Hendrick and Elliott Hendrick; great-grandchildren, William and Lydia Hendrick; brother, Ronnie Owens of TN; sisters, Verna (Monte) Jordan of Franklin, IN and Violet (Terry) Mabbit of Alexandria, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband Virgia was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Richard Owens. Visitation will be Monday, December 11, 2023, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 Sigler St., Frankton, IN. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, December 11, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery in Alexandria.
