Walter J "Jerry" Macke Obituary (1942 - 2016)

Walter "Jerry" Macke, age 73, of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. Jerry was born on April 25, 1942, to Joseph and Mary Macke. Jerry was married to Helen "Jo" (Weston) Macke for 24 years and she passed away on Feb. 21, 2015. Jerry worked road construction for 29 years as a Paving Foreman for E & B Paving. Jerry loved spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by three sons, Jerry Macke of Elwood, Scott Macke of Swayzee, and David Macke of Amboy, two step daughters, Tammy (Tim) Dennison of Marion and Roberta "Bertie" Coots of Tipton, grandchildren, Jake & Anna Macke, Nava Brown, Tiffany (Chad) Stafford, Cameron Silvey, Ashley Coots, and Jeremy Lane, six great grandchildren, two brothers, Bill Macke of TX and Skip Macke of Fishers, two sisters, Sue (Phil) Rector of Elwood and Victoria (Don) Harris of OH, several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his Father, Joseph Macke, Mother, Mary Macke, Sister, Barbara Ann Duncan, Brother, Gene Macke. Funeral service celebrating Jerry's life will be at 11:00 am Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery with full military graveside services provided by the Elwood VFW American Honor Guard Unit-Post 5782. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
